I know I've posted this one before, but this early morning, with the windows open, that is what it sounds like right now.
The house is quiet (except for the antics of my two diabolical kitties) and the sound of rain on tires occasionally passing by the dark street is music to my ears.
This week I go back to work for a few days and then I proctor the SAT on Saturday. It will be nice to get back into the building and see my old pals-- even if Kathleen did try to murder me in my dreams. I don't think I will share that with her.
The flooding waters had me concerned for my entire family this weekend. Hazel Del and the bridge near the Ripple mostly. I checked in with my girl, who is now in Noblesville and she responded with a curt and chilling, "All is well with the house" text.
OKAY.
She has an interview for medical school coming up. I guess she is getting interview helps from her now ex-step mother. THE DAD is driving her to the interview in Erie, PA. And that's about all I know. I should say I am getting second and third thoughts about shelling out 3 grand for her to vaca with me in December. I'm not sure exactly what I did or didn't do to activate this new attitude. It's like she missed out on being a brat in junior and senior high school and now it is coming full circle.
Or she is just getting cozy with the folks who are helping her on the journey. Dr. Grandpa and Dr. Dad and Hospital Admin Ex Step Mom. And I get that-- but her know-it-all responses and her lack of patience with me not knowing the medical lingo for what she is pursuing has me retreating.
When she was in college I sent her a card every week. FOUR YEARS
Now I don't even know exactly where she lives, if she got washed down the White River or eloped and moved to Vegas.
Seeing that she is her Father's Daughter, that last one is highly unlikely.
