"losing end of distance"

A strange day of strange happenstance. The powers of the universe awoke from some hibernating sleep—They stretched and yawned. But I’ve been wide awake. I was not dreaming.

Each interaction today was like a scene from Pocahontas when the Mother Willow lifted her branches and told the young girl to ‘listen to the wind and she would understand’. Spinning and spinning. No, this was not a Disney day. Definitely not. Too coincidental. And just as in my dreams when I wake seconds before I die, I at last understand, just for a moment. But then there is the next moment to comprehend…and the next….

Found a new album at the library Sunday from the good old days-- Seventeen a live acoustic show by Sean Kelly and Tom Askin of The Samples, I can’t seem to put it down today. Songs like “seventeen”, “Indiana”, ”When the day is done” and “Seany Boy” . Hell, they are all great. Here are just a few lyrics from one tune:

“losing end of distance” lyrics and music by Sean Kelly

I’ve been on the losing end of distance
A little too far to be close
On every corner I’ll be looking
Wiping my tears away

I’ve been looking everywhere for you
I’ve been looking everywhere for you
Nevermind the streetlights
Or every shadows shaped like you
Every call keeps me running to the phone
Operator, tell me how to get this off of me

I’ve been looking everywhere for you
I’ve been looking everywhere for you
I’ve been waiting all my life
Never holding on
Never holding on too tight…

Purple rose that wilts away
Leaving me behind
Because my love was there to stay
It’s up for you to find…

No school tomorrow. I have not set my alarm clock in weeks. Yay.
